Espresso Exchanges Episode 2: Pranav Saale

Share Via:

This week, I had the pleasure of chatting with Pranav Saale a final year student at Deakin University studying Bachelor of Business (Sports Management). Pranav is deeply passionate about the sports industry, with aspirations to join major sports events and leagues’ operations teams. His dream is to travel the world while working in this industry, combining his professional goals with his love for travel and exploration.

Here’s what we discussed:

📍Q: Are there any emerging trends that enthusiasts should be watching out for?

Pranav: The sports industry is seeing an increase in reliance on volunteers. This trend is moving towards providing practical experience, learning opportunities, and the chance to build a solid network from the grassroots level, which is crucial for meeting experienced individuals.

📍Q: How has volunteering at various sports events shaped your professional skills and personal growth? What advice would you give to someone looking to break into the sports industry?

Pranav: Volunteering transformed me. Initially shy, I struggled at my first networking event and left halfway through. But with volunteering, I gained practical experience, which boosted my confidence. Now, I can engage in public speaking and interact with different individuals with ease. My advice? Start with small steps and gradually aim for bigger heights. Remember, volunteering is the backbone of the Australian sports industry.

📍Q: What has been the most unexpected lesson you’ve learned through your work in sports?

Pranav: The world truly is a small place. Investing time in building relationships has taught me that more people are willing to help than you might expect. Be proactive and approach others—networking and building connections are more impactful than most think.

📍Q: What’s your one message to the world?

Pranav: “Once you realise the potential of what you’re doing, you’ll never want to stop.”

✨ Here are my key takeaways from this conversation:

Embracing volunteer opportunities, not just in sports but in any field, can significantly enhance both your professional skills and personal growth. Building relationships and being proactive in networking are essential for success in any area where community and connections play a significant role. Through volunteering, you gain practical experiences that build confidence and skills, helping you to navigate and excel in your chosen career path.
