On my recent trip to India for holidays, I had the pleasure of chatting with Deepkaran Singh, a passionate game developer and data analyst, and one of my closest friend. Deepkaran shared insights into how his dual interests propel his career, the trends shaping his field, and his strategies for continual learning and growth.

📍Q: What inspired you to explore both game development and data analysis, and how do you merge these skills in your current role?

Deepkaran: “Growing up, I was fascinated by video games, which inspired me to not only play them but also create them. With a background in computer science specializing in machine learning, I learned the importance of data-driven decision-making. At MadOverGames (MOG), I combine my programming skills with a mathematical mindset to develop user-preferred in-app packs and events.”

📍Q: Which current technology or industry trend do you believe will revolutionize game development or data analysis in the next few years?

Deepkaran: “The game development field is constantly evolving. While engines like Unity, Unreal, and Godot each have their strengths, the focus is shifting towards delivering compelling stories and smooth gameplay. In data analysis, Generative AI will significantly impact decision-making in game production, tailoring experiences to user preferences more effectively.”

📍Q: How do you plan to continue learning and growing professionally in the tech field?

Deepkaran: “As an engineer, continuous learning is crucial. I’m focusing on mastering Data Structures and Algorithms and exploring the SOLID principles to enhance game functionality. I’m also venturing into new territories like Lua programming for Roblox games, which allows me to expand my skill set and adapt to new gaming platforms.”

📍Q: One message for the world

Deepkaran: “Life is full of unexpected turns; the key to survival is adapting to change. For those aspiring to enter game development, focus on building a portfolio that showcases your skills. It’s not about creating the perfect game but demonstrating your capabilities through your work.”

✨Key Takeaways

Deepkaran’s journey underscores the synergy between technical expertise and creative passion. His approach to integrating game development with data analysis highlights the dynamic nature of tech careers, where continuous learning and adaptation are essential.
